Satoyama Culture Experience in OGAWA TOWN（里山文化体験 in 小川町 ）
Ogawa Town is located in the central-western part of Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo. It is a basin surrounded by low mountains, known as *satoyama*, where people and nature coexist, fostering both industry and culture. It is often referred to as the “Little Kyoto of Musashi.”
In just about an hour from Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo, you can experience the scenic countryside of Japan, offering a contrast to the bustling city.
This time, we are pleased to offer a bus tour that combines a traditional Japanese papermaking experience (*washi*) with over 1,300 years of history, and a visit to a sake brewery with over 170 years of heritage. Enjoy the rich industrial and culinary culture that has flourished in Japan’s *satoyama* landscape.
小川町は、東京の北にある埼玉県中西部に位置する町です。
四方を低山に囲まれた盆地で、里山と言われる人と自然が共生し、産業と文化を育んできた場所です。
武蔵の小京都ともいわれています。
東京・池袋駅からも約1時間で、都会とは違った日本の田舎の景色を体験することができます。
今回は、1300年以上の歴史を持つ和紙の紙漉き体験と170年以上の続く日本酒の酒蔵見学を組み合わせたバスツアーを開催いたします。
日本の里山という風土から生まれ育まれた日本の産業と食文化を存分にお楽しみください。
◆Ogawa Washi Paper Making Experience（小川和紙 紙漉き体験）
【Morning session】
*Washi* (traditional Japanese paper) has been produced in this region since around the 7th century, with a history spanning approximately 1,300 years. During the Edo period (present-day Tokyo), Ogawa Town, being close to Edo and having a rich history in paper production, became a center for meeting the growing demand for paper in the city. This led to a period of great prosperity for the industry. It is said that by the early Showa era, there were nearly 1,000 *washi* artisans in the area.
You will learn about *washi*, a vital product in Japan’s cultural and economic history, and enjoy the hands-on experience of traditional hand papermaking (*tesuki*). The *washi* you create during the workshop will be yours to take home as a souvenir.

和紙は7世紀頃から現在に至るまでこの地でつくられた来た製品。
約1300年に歴史を持っています。特に江戸時代、江戸（現在：東京）の町で必要とされる紙を担うため江戸から近く産業として歴史のあった小川町で作られ、隆盛期を迎えました。
昭和初期頃までは1,000軒近くの和紙職人がいたといわれています。
日本文化・経済に欠かすことの出来なかった和紙について学び、「手漉き」体験を楽しんでいただきます。
当日、自分で漉いた和紙は、お土産としてお持ち帰りできます。

◆Lunch with sake brewery tour and sake tasting comparison（酒蔵見学と日本酒飲み比べ付きランチ）
【Afternoon】
Ogawa Town is blessed with an abundance of high-quality water. In the late Edo period, it became a bustling hub for logistics, attracting many merchants and serving as a lively center for business negotiations. As a result, many sake breweries were established in the area during that time.
On this tour, you will visit Matsuoka Brewing, founded in 1851 and boasting a history of over 170 years. You’ll also enjoy a lunch at the brewery’s restaurant, “Teimatsu Shofuan,” where you can experience a sake tasting of the brewery’s flagship brand, Teimatsu.
We invite you to explore the rich tradition of Japan’s sake culture with a tour of the brewery, paired with a delicious Japanese meal.

小川町は、「良質な水」に恵まれた地。また江戸時代後半には、物流の拠点として多くの商人が集い、
商談が行われる賑わいのある町でした。結果、当時多くの酒蔵もありました。
今回は1851年創業、170年以上の歴史をもつ松岡醸造の酒蔵見学と併設された酒蔵レストラン「帝松 松風庵」で松岡醸造のブランド帝松の飲み比べができるランチを体験いただきます。
日本の和文化「地酒」の蔵見学と日本食をお楽しみください。
